Archives for December 2010

Oh, Christmas Tree!

Happy Holidays! Can you believe 2010 is practically over?! I wanted to share our Christmas tree with y’all, which we put up this past weekend. I am a stickler for real trees (can’t beat the fresh, pine-y scent, and reminds me of my childhood!) and the husband always obliges. This year, we got the biggest tree yet! It almost hits our 9 ft tall ceilings!

Although I am obsessed with color coordinated trees like that of Young House Love, we have a random mish-mash of ornaments that we can’t part with. For the past three or four years now, we throw a holiday party and ask all of our friends to bring us an ornament for our tree. If they forget, we don’t let them in the door.

Kidding! But I love seeing what our friends bring/make us, and unwrapping them every year makes me so happy!

Day and evening shots of our giant. This sucker drinks water like no other!

I made this green felt ornament when I was in kindergarten (actually, I think my teacher made it and I stuck in the photo). Yes, that was me at age 5 with a boy haircut and a home-perm courtesy of my mom! Our friends V & J customized the ornament on the right for us from Personalization Mall.

Ooh lala, gorgeous letterpressed, uber-thick, die-cut ornament/card from my friend Sarah at Truly Smitten! And a cute, crafty CD ornament from Chris & Donna (strung with dental floss, awesome!)

The Eiffel Tower ornament represents where we got engaged back in 2006… yes, the husband proposed under the Eiffel Tower, and it was the most glorious moment, ever! And the sea turtle ornament represents our recent Hawaiian vacation with friends.

Our friends R & S gave us this greyhound ornament last year in honor of our silly girl, Gia. I am tempted to spray-paint the ornament tan so it is the right color :)

The Weddingbees have an annual ornament exchange where we send another Bee an ornament representing their icon. These are the three Emerald ornaments that I’ve received and I love the fact that I will get a new one every year!

Do you have a tree up? Where do most of your ornaments come from?
