Hitched: Irene & Adam’s Morton Arboretum Wedding – The Reception

March 9th, 2012

Happy Friday!

I’m finally wrapping up Irene and Adam’s wonderful wedding day with their reception photos by Dan Gin… Please check out Part 1 (The Ceremony) and Part 2 (The Details). They kicked off the dinner with their First Dance. You may notice that Irene was wearing a deep red peony corsage on her wrist, and that was because she didn’t want to bother toting around a bouquet… Smart!

Cutting their unique phoenix cake (see here for close ups)

Their reception was full of surprises, including two lion dancers that weaved through the crowds.

Erica from Toast & Jam kept the dance floor busy all night long.

Not only was there dancing… there was KARAOKE!!

… Which was just as busy as the dance floor!

And the last surprise… a WOW BAO STATION!! Guests went NUTS for these yummy snacks!

Thank you Irene and Adam, for letting Sweetchic Events be a part of your amazing, fun-filled weekend!!

Hitched: Faye & Arthur’s Garfield Park Wedding Pt 3

December 30th, 2011

After the ceremony, it was time to really get the party started!

Beautiful, garden-inspired arrangement by Asrai Garden.

A view of the lovely Bluestone Patio.

They went with simple white linens and royal blue accents.

The dessert spread by Flour Cake & Pastry was beyond delicious!

Who needs a big wedding cake when you can have a petite cutting cake and a HUGE dessert tower?

Congrats again, Faye & Arthur!!

Hitched: Jen & Aaron’s Trump Wedding, Part 2

November 21st, 2011

In case you missed Part 1 of Jen & Aaron’s Trump Towers Wedding and their amazing video trailer!

This is one of the few weddings where the Father of the Bride actually thanked me and our team in his welcome speech! It was absolutely hysterical, and much appreciated ;)

The stunning ballrooms of the Trump Chicago, as well as the amazing views…

Jen was overjoyed as she stepped into the ballroom for the first time…

Notice how they incorporated the skyline into their lighting AND their stationery!

Thanks, Jen & Aaron, for letting us be a part of your joy-filled day!

Blow My Cupcake Lovin’ Mind…

September 14th, 2011

A few weeks ago, the Sweetchic team was taking a quick break at a wedding, and the conversation turned to cupcakes… and how they EAT their cupcakes. Apparently, I’ve been missing out!

So yesterday I happened to have a client meeting at Molly’s Cupcakes, and therefore I had to give this new technique a whirl. Caaaarefully rip off the bottom of the cupcake (or in my case, I prefer to use a knife and cut it) and then smoosh it on top to form a CUPCAKE SANDWICH.

O.M.G. Who knew such a simple maneuver could completely change the way I enjoy my cupcakes?!

Oh, and on a side-note, Molly’s has my absolute favorite red velvet cupcakes in Chicago!! Rich and moist with a heaping dollop of the the most divine cream cheese frosting… mmmm, heaven! They also have these mini cupcakes (pictured above) which are the perfect, ladylike size, and only $1. A dollar!!

Now, how do YOU eat your cupcakes? And which cupcakery is your favorite?!
