Hitched: Neha & Alex’s Cultural Center Wedding Pt 2

September 12th, 2011

If you missed Part 1 of Neha and Alex’s Indian-Chinese wedding at the Chicago Cultural Center

We had about 75 minutes to complete the room turn. What is a room turn? It is when the wedding ceremony and reception are held in the same space, and so all of your vendors work feverishly to break down the ceremony set up and transform the room in time for dinner (while guests enjoy cocktail hour in another area). This was a monumental task, considering there were well over 300 guests!

The gorgeous aisle decor by Yanni Design Studio were transformed into centerpieces for the dinner tables.

An eggless cake by Bombon Bakery (my first time tasting an eggless cake and it was good!!)

Were you wondering where the Chinese elements came in? Of course we needed some traditional Chinese Lion Dancers!

Like dinner in a glowing jewel box…

Their guests really knew how to party!!

Thanks, Neha and Alex, for letting me be a part of your fabulous celebration!!

Angela & Phil’s Eaglewood Resort Wedding, Part 2

August 1st, 2011

I would be remiss if I didn’t finish sharing Angela and Phil’s lovely wedding at Eaglewood Resort! All the beautiful images are by the talented Erica Rose Photography.

My absolute favorite detail was the escort card display… Grace from Vale of Enna created this stunning silver manzanita branch arrangement draped with crystals, hanging candles and pale pink orchid blossoms. Below it was a bed of moss with delicate ranunculous blossoms inserted into mini escort card tags… which Angela painstakingly “aged” in a tea solution to give a vintage feel.

I was crazy about the dazzling red, one-shouldered reception dress that Angela changed into right in time for their First Dance!

Chin & Stephen’s Cafe Brauer Wedding, The Finale!

April 15th, 2011

Chin & Stephen’s wedding day, Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3

It was finally time to get the PARTAY started inside the beautiful Cafe Brauer!

Jenny and her Scarlet Petal team did an amazing job with the blue and purple color schemed florals! Everything was low, lush, and glowed in the candle light!

I wish we had a picture of the full escort card display before all the guests got to it! We had a beautiful Asian-style folding screen from which I hung ribbons and used mini clothes pins to attach the cards. It was stunning!

We created a lush tablescape using the leftover hydrangea bunches from the ceremony, the bouquets and floating candles.

I love moments like this caught on camera, with the happy couple kissing and their two mothers toasting their glasses!

The meal was the best example of how they incorporated their two cultures. There was a Haitian Jerk Chicken over red beans and rice to represent Stephen’s background… and a Soy and Brown Sugar Salmon with black lotus rice and baby bok choy to reflect Chin’s Chinese roots. Something for everyone! Blue Plate Catering did a fantastic job (I got to enjoy the salmon, thanks Ken! :) )

One of the best toasts was by Chin’s family, where they had the whole crowd on their feet and cheering!

I think it’s so meaningful (and polite!) when the Bride and Groom say a few words of thanks to their families and friends!

I believe they surprised everyone with a tango… (in that amazing Provonias dress!)

A Famous Pug Cake!

April 11th, 2011

I got the funniest email last night from my friend and past 2009 bride, Vida… Apparently she and her husband were watching Tori and Dean’s sTORIbook Weddings (uhm, yes, Tori Spelling and her husband are now wedding planners?! Go figure!), and the featured couple wanted a pug themed wedding. Then the bride-to-be whipped out a picture of a pug cake to show Tori:

YUP, that’s Vida and John’s cake!! Here’s the blog post where I wrote about it… John did some super-googling and told me that there is a good chance that the bride-to-be pulled the image from my blog, haha!

Pretty nifty, eh?!

I don’t get the Oxygen network, but from the pictures on the website, it looks like they took the Pug-theme wedding to the max!
