Back to Blogging!

August 8th, 2011

You might have noticed, but I’m trying to get back on the blogging bandwagon! The Sweetchic blog was sadly neglected for over 2 months, and after not touching it for so long… it was hard to force myself to write again. And more often than not, I wonder, who the heck reads this thing?

But then about two weeks ago, I received the nicest email from a reader named Molly… and I hope she won’t mind me sharing it with you!

Subject: Long Time No Blog

Hi Charlene,

Although I got married almost 4 years ago I am a regular follower of your blog.  I have not seen any recent posts and hope everything is okay with you and your family, that you are either very busy with wedding planning or away on vacation.  I’m looking forward to future blog updates.

So Molly, if you’re reading this, thank you for reminding me that there are people out there reading my blog! For those of you who are consistent bloggers (especially Mac users!!), do you have any suggestions on how to make the process easier?

And since a post with no pictures is boring, here is a random pic from or recent weekend trip to Milwaukee:

One of the most deeelicious breakfasts I’ve ever had – a cripsy shrimp, scallop & calamari scramble with tomato sauce and paprika aoli - from Blue’s Egg.

Meet the Flowers: Green Trick

July 29th, 2011

Where the HECK did July go?! Ack!

I was recently introduced to this fun, fluffy, bright green poof ball and immediately fell in luuurve. There is something so vibrant and modern about green trick and is the perfect accent to any floral arrangement.

The other week I was so thrilled to receive a surprise delivery from one of my favorite floral companies, The Flower Firm… and the gorgeous arrangement they sent me included none other than some aforementioned, green trick! See how fabulous it looks when incorporated with other flowers, namely hydrangea, cymbidium orchids, calla lilies, white roses and blue thistle.

Have a fabulous weekend!! I’ll do my best to get back on a semi-normal blogging schedule…

Sweetchic in the Media!

February 17th, 2011

It’s been an exciting week for Sweetchic! We were featured in the press… twice!

A few weeks ago, I got a call from Janet Fuller, the food writer with the Chicago Sun Times asking for my thoughts on wedding food trends, and I was happy to oblige! The e-version of the story (Couples have their wedding cake and cookies, too) came out two days ago, and the printed copy was on stands yesterday!

The spring issue of The Knot Chicago featured the wedding of our clients Chin & Stephen as one of the “10 chicago weddings we love”, and who I haven’t blogged about due to this upcoming feature! Chin and Stephen hosted their stunning purple, Chinese-Haitian wedding at one of my very favorite venues in Chicago, Cafe Brauer in Lincoln Park.

All photos by the wonderful Yazy Jo Photography.

Friday Faves: Blogs We Loved This Week

January 21st, 2011

And we’re back with the Friday Faves!

1. I am not ashamed to admit how much I enjoy my weekly dose of The Bachelor… and relish I Love the Bachelor’s weekly recap!!

2. This sweet, girly pink birthday party featured on Sweet Designs kinda made me want a little girl so that I can throw her a party like this one day!

3. One of the most hilarious recaps of Golden Globes fashion by the (chloe) conspiracy.

4. I LOVE seeing closet renovations, and this one by Made by Girl is to die for!! I showed it to the husband and asked if we could do that to our closet… unfortunately the answer was a big fat No. *sad face*
