Wedzu – Like Etsy for Weddings!

Wow, how did I miss this site?! Why have I not read about it on every single wedding blog? (Or have I…? errr…) I just found out about Wedzu, which is literally like Etsy for all-things-wedding-related. Check out some of these gorgeous finds. It’s times like these when I wish I could have another wedding! (Maybe a vow renewal is in order, haha)

I am drooling over these white topaz 14k gold leaf branch earrings… $62. But really, wouldn’t these look fab on your Bridesmaids?

I wasn’t nearly stylish enough to pull one of these off at my own wedding (nor were they “in” at the time) but if I could choose any fascinator now, I would choose this white and gold feather and lace fascinator. For $58!!!

Sob. I really want this too… Darcy navy clutch with the cutest white grosgrain ribbon, $65.

How cute would your ring-bearer look sportin’ this down the aisle? Although this satin embellished pillow ($49) is SO pretty, maybe you should consider having a ring-girl carry this instead.

You love the look of these tissue paper poms a la Martha Stewart, but geez louise, you don’t have the patience to make them yourself… so buy ‘em! 20 tissue paper poms in your choice of colors for $66 (I’m sure you have to fluff them up though, which can be tricky!).

Ok, so this Wedding Tree Genealogy Chart may not be in everyone’s budget at $675… but wouldn’t it be cool if it was?! This custom chart indicates how all of the wedding guests are connected the couple, whether it be family members, college friends, neighbors, etc. It would definitely give guests something to talk about during cocktail hour!

As of now, this Wedzu is nowhere near as big as Etsy, but I have a feeling it will be one day soon!

Happy Shopping!

Guide to Wedding Chairs

**PLEASE NOTE: WE DO NOT RENT CHAIRS** We are merely offering a guide to what types are chair are available through other rental companies and typical for weddings.

Don’t laugh… yes, this is a post about chairs! More often than not, brides care a wee bit about the chairs their guests will sit on (for a mere 3 – 4 hours) at their wedding. It sounds a bit ridiculous, but in terms of aesthetics, chairs can make a difference! Here is a glossary of chair options in order of their affordability, at least in the Chicago area.

BANQUET CHAIRS
This is typically the type of chair that is included with many hotel and venue packages. Quite a tragedy in my opinion… the ones pictured below are actually halfway decent! I’ve seen some horrendous ones in my day…

CHAIR COVERS
I admit, that spandex cover on the left kinda scares me! But, when done right, chair covers make the typical banquet chair a little more presentable.

PADDED FOLDING CHAIR
These folding chairs are available in a variety of colors and are especially popular for outdoor ceremonies. They would work well in a rustic, more casual venue. For example, they would not look quite right in an upscale hotel, but would look perfectly at home in a loft/warehouse space.

VERSAILLES CHAIR aka OPERA CHAIR
I like these chairs as much as I like the chiavari chair (see below)

CHIAVARI CHAIRS
The classic, ubiquitous wedding chair that many brides lust after (not an exaggeration in many cases, I confess I did too!). Available in many colors and sometimes two types of padding – the one on the far left is more like a harder pad versus the other two which are cushion-like. They are called different things by different companies, so be sure to check what your rental company offers.

CHAMELEON CHAIR
These are sleek and sexy and would look fabulous in a more contemporary setting! Rental is costly but if you can swing it…

GHOST CHAIR
Ahhh, the ghost chair is coveted not only for weddings, but also for home decor! I’ve never actually requested a quote for these, but I’ve heard that they rent for upwards of $50 a chair… rent! But they are spectacular…

What kind of chairs will you have for your wedding, or was it even a point of concern?

Elizabeth Grace – Chicago Wedding Paperie

Last night I had the pleasure of attending a party in honor of Chicago wedding planners hosted by Laura of Elizabeth Grace, a charming paperie and gift boutique in Lincoln Park. I wish I had the notion to take some pictures of the lovely soiree, but immediately upon entering, I was handed a glass of my very favorite wine – Moscato d’Asti – and my other hand was busy munching on some yummy canapés. Sorry, priorites ya know :P

The gorgeous invitation, so thick you could eat off it! I adore the use of different fonts!

I left with a pretty canvas swag bag, and when I rummaged through it later, I was excited to discover some true goodies! (Lots of times when you get a so-called “swag” bag, it’s not unusual for it to be filled with flyers, pens, magnets and random tchotchkes). Notice how the artwork on the bag perfectly coordinates with the invitations! And then the yummy Garrett popcorn, cute jelly beans, Voluspa candle… and what are in those boxes?

Earrings from The Left Bank, a Parisian-inspired jewelry boutique. (Would anyone like these?! I have super-sensitive ears that can’t handle anything except gold, ugh! Be the first to comment below and I’ll send them to you :) )

Why HELLO there macaroons!!! I love to eat you…

And the crown jewel… a set of personalized notecards with my name letterpressed into the super-luxe Crane’s paper (can you even call it paper? It’s seriously as thick as carboard).

Thank. You. Elizabeth. Grace!!!!
