Winter Wedding Ideas
Merry Christmas Eve!!
Sure...winter may be the dreaded season due to the cold and snow (can you tell we're located in Chicago?!) but it does bring along some picture-perfect elements (as I'm looking out the window watching snowflakes dance around). There is nothing more beautiful than living inside a snow globe for a day. Here in Chicago, we can expect another 3+ months of winter, so here is some inspiration for you!
We love the idea of bringing the winter elements into your wedding. We aren't talking red, green, and a Christmas tree smack -dab in the middle of the dance floor here; more subtle elements will create the magical atmosphere that winter brings.
Natural Elements
Bring nature inside to enhance wedding elements such as escort cards, cake, and centerpieces. We love the varietal textures of pine cones, evergreens, and natural cotton.
"Winterizing" Your Flowers
Generally, when you think flowers, you think spring and summer. But not many brides are going to give up florals just because its "not very winter-y" (ha, we know we wouldn't!) So why not make your bouquets and centerpieces look a little more seasonal by adding some silver/grey elements. Our favorites are dusty miller and brunia berries.
White Wedding
There is nothing quite like the scene of fresh fallen snow. The all white look is a strikingly magical sight -- and so chic!
All That Glitters...
For us, the holiday season is an excuse to indulge (more than we already do) in all things glittery, sparkly, shiny! Adding a little glimmer to your wedding adds a festive twist. Just be careful not to over do this. No glitter bombs please... just a kiss of sparkle!
Winter Treats
Some of the BEST desserts, treats, and drinks are made during this time of year. Give your guests the "warm and fuzzies" with a coffee or hot chocolate bar, or add a pop of color (and extra yum!) to your bubbly.
Happy Holidays from the Sweetchic Team!
